Specific Description:

Maple Leaf Zhenjiang is seeking to hire a High School Social Studies teacher to teach Grades 10-12. An ideal candidate would be able to teach across a range of social studies subjects. We would also consider applications from candidates who have some experience teaching Science (possibly in Biology), but this is not essential.

In the Maple Leaf Social Studies Curriculum, World History and Geography is a required course for Grades 10 & 11, and we offer a range of other courses as electives to Grade 12s. These include, World History 12, Human Geography 12, Physical Geography 12 and Psychology 12. All Unit and lesson plans are provided for all courses, and students are assessed through project-based assessments, tests, quizzes, as well as school-based exams.

We are seeking to appoint a native English-speaking teacher (from UK, Canada, USA, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand). We invite applications from qualified/licensed teachers , or experienced teachers already enrolled to gain a relevant teaching license, such as British Columbia (BC), PGCE/QTS, SACE or equivalent. Applicants who ONLY have a TEFL certificate will not be considered.

Academic Teacher Responsibilities (General):

- Plan and deliver lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
- Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
- Create and distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments etc.)
- Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
- Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events
- Observe and understand students’ behavior and psyche and report suspicions of neglect, abuse etc.
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.

Academic Teacher Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in a teachable and related subject
- 2 years of classroom experience
- Teacher training program | practicum
- Teacher license certification, such as British Columbia (BC), PGCE/QTS, SACE or equivalent
- 120 hours TEFL/TESOL certificate
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines
- Willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
- Strong moral values and discipline
