Ex: Conference USA presented by Globe Life Insurance v Dellenger’s proposals. Add their logo to fields, let them take over jersey ads and commercial breaks. Just don’t mess with what little sanctity/recognizability that remains of the CUSA brand. Globe Life Conference sounds disgusting.

Just don’t mess with what little sanctity/recognizability that remains of the CUSA brand. Globe Life Conference sounds disgusting. I've had some fun thinking about potential sponsors and conference names, but at the end of the day, this is what I'm not-so-secretly hoping for. "Conference USA presented by Globe Life" sounds so much more ... dignified? ... than Globe Life Conference. I mean, what happens when Globe Life pulls out and Doritos steps in? Do we become the Doritos Conference? I mean, look what's happened to bowl game names. 68 Ventures Bowl? Guaranteed Rate Bowl? Reliaquest Bowl? Duke's Mayo Bowl? Pop Tarts Bowl? OK, those last two are actually pretty good... But seriously, we don't need to change the name of the conference every time a sponsor changes. And as bad as it would've been to have them "present" Conference USA, imagine how incredibly embarrassing it would've been if we'd actually been called the Enron Conference back in 2001. It's a horrifically bad idea. Let's hope someone at conference HQ has some sense...

Conference USAA or Globe Life Conference would be names repeated over and over on every broadcast of sports show. Thats why the name will not be something like CUSA brought to you be Globe Life. You would hear the sponsors name once or twice only and they are not going to pay for that. Also, every damn conference will do this. The cat is out of the bag. Like I said, this is not a novel idea. Soccer leagues around the world do this. Ligue 1 Uber Eats, LaLiga EA Sports, Serie A TIM, Liga Portugal Betclic. Most top soccer leagues have sponsor names in the league titles, and they make a bunch of money off of it without fundamentally altering their team names (Scottish Premiership is the exception I can think of off the top of my head where they actually removed "Scottish" from the official name and put in a sponsor instead). They are not "Liga EA Sports" or "Serie Uber Eats" - so no reason to think that it would have to be "Conference Globe Life" rather than "Globe Life Conference USA" though I do agree that they probably will want the sponsor name in the title rather than just being "Conference USA sponsored by Globe Life"

Is this time when we recycle the complaints about Judy being Texas-centric?! Also, Snoop Dogg has become the title sponsor for the Arizona Bowl, this year to be referred to as the "Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice by Dre & Snoop." That's a lot of words, and I suppose college presidents would never want their conference named after Snoop Dogg, but that's secretly what I'm hoping for. Might be good for recruiting too!
